Celebration of the Russian Diplomatic Service Day in Reykjavik
On 10 February the Russian embassy hosted a reception to mark the
professional holiday of the Russian diplomatic service. MFA officials,
representatives of diplomatic corps, compatriots and media attended.
Ambassador Anton Vasiliev addressed the guests and presented awards to
prominent compatriots living in Iceland.
A Badge of Honor “For Contribution to International Cooperation” of the
Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs was presented to Alexandra Argunova
(Kjuregej), painter, actress, musician, and stage and costume designer,
founder of the Yakut house and culture center in Iceland, in recognition of
her contributions to the development of the Russian-Icelandic relations.
A Honorary Diploma of the Russian Government Commission on Compatriots
Living Abroad was presented to Lubov Gennadevna Rivina, head of the Russian
Language School and theater studio for children of Russian speaking
compatriots living abroad for valuable contribution to support of Russia,
maintenance of Russian language and culture.
Diplomats’ Day was established by a Presidential decree in 2002 to
commemorate the foundation of the Russian diplomatic service in 1549.
