On the fifth international Arctic circle Assembly 2017 in Iceland

The event gathered around 2000 participants from more than 50 countries.

Among representatives of the Russian Federation at the event were V.Barbin, Senior Arctic Official of the MFA of Russia, A.Vasiliev, Russian Ambassador to Iceland, E.Ambrosov, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of PAO «Sovcomflot». V.Barbin was the speaker of one of the opening sessions “The future of the Arctic - a Russian vision” and E.Ambrosov was the speaker of the plenary session «Effective transportation solutions for large-scale oil and gas projects in the Arctic».

On the sidelines of the event Ambassador A.V.Vasiliev held meeting with His Holiness Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I, who visited Iceland to take part in the Forum. Patriarch Bartholomew I with delegation visited parcel of land, where the first Orthodox church in Iceland should be constructed.

The Russian Embassy hosted a reception on Russian participation in the Arctic circle Assembly 2017.
